Nope, I am not talking about Idol time as in American Idol. However this program may be very entertaining and everyone has their favorite that they cheer for, this is not the kind of idle I am referring to.
Nope again, not talking about idol’s as in movie stars, rock stars or any other kind of celebrity idol.
Nope still again. Not talking about any free time you have either with nothing to do. I am sure you have plenty to do. Whether or not you want to do it is for another time to discuss
The idle time I’m referring to has to do with your truck. The amount of time your truck is running and not moving is considered idle time. All your idle time adds up and costs you money and you are going no where.
Some idle time can not be helped when you are stuck in traffic. If you are stuck in traffic, then what it is, is what it is.
Be aware and pay close attention to those times when you have the truck running and you may not be in the cab behind the wheel. The time when you start up the truck and decide to finish your paperwork before you leave. Or you decide make a quick phone call that takes longer than you expected.
Whether you just did a quick run to the truck stop for something you forgot or whatever, all the idle time adds up and uses up fuel.
By cutting down on your idle time you can save yourself thousands of dollars in a year. The average truck when idling for 1 hr uses about about a gallon of diesel. This is a general rule of thumb, not gospel. Now multiply that by the amount of time you let your truck idle during a week, month or year. See where I am going with this? At $4+ per gallon, this all adds up over the course of days, months and years and is costing you money. Money that you could be using for other things.
Cutting back where you can helps save money and fuel. Less money being spent means more money in your pocket. Money in your pocket to spend on fun things with the family or to spend on you.
When you turn the key and start up your truck, you should be ready to roll and not let the engine idle and eat up fuel and your money.
You work too long and hard, and have to deal with fuel costs that just seem to keep rising to ignore any helpful tips to keep more of your money in your pocket.
